The Huacaya dates back to the ancient Incan civilization and history tells us how the alpaca had a central place in their society. In the 1800’s a gentleman by the name of Sir Titus Salt of Saltaire, England rediscovered alpaca fiber……….thus leading us to where we are today.

Behind them you see Mr. Warbucks..........our llama. We call him the “big guy” because when he came to the ranch we had 6 female alpacas for him to guard. He was so much larger than the females that we gave him the nickname. He has been a true friend and helper. He knows his job and does it well. |

The Huacaya fiber grows in soft bunches
which gives the “teddy bear” look. The fiber characteristics are crimp and brightness. The fiber grows perpendicular to the body in uniform bundles.
